USS Maine Base—USSVI

Meeting 20 Mar 2011

 

The meeting was called to order at 1300.

 

The USSVI Creed was read, Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was performed and then a moment of silence was dedicated to members of the US Armed Forces, past and present, all over the world.

 

Tolling of the Bell for Submarines and Submariners lost in the month of March was performed.

 

The Secretary deemed that a Quorum was present. A motion was made that the minutes of last meeting be accepted as posted on the USS Maine website. This motion was seconded and passed.

 

The Treasurer reported that there was $2119.74 in our account. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report; the motion was seconded and passed. 

 

Standing Committees

  

Dolphin Committee: No update, no word from USS Maine (Blue).

 

Kaps for Kids:  Steve Adler will make contact with hospital and confirm visit.

 

Old Business

USS Thresher Memorial: Will take place at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on 9 April at 1300. The people that are signed up to attend are: Harlan Brown, Larry Farrell, John Morrill, John Starbird, Real Cyr, Perley and Shirley Shover, Christopher Smith, Richard Harris, William Walters, Stephen Adler, Robert Sawyer, John McCutcheon, Roger Dumont, and Roy Gorman. If you wish to attend get your name in to the Secretary ASAP. Carpooling is the order of the day and if you have room for a shipmate or need a lift contact your poor overworked Secretary to make arrangements.

 

Biographies: Steve Adler is scheduled for his next month.
